These General Terms and Conditions and Terms of Use apply to the use of free-tournament.com and the associated services. They apply both to free use and to paid services, in particular Free-Tournament Premium and Premium vouchers.
These terms become part of the respective contract if the user is informed of their applicability when the contract is concluded, is given the opportunity to take note of them, and agrees to their applicability.
2. Services provided by Free-Tournament
Free-Tournament is a digital platform for creating, organising, managing and presenting football tournaments, leagues and Funino tournaments.
The functions offered may include, in particular, the creation of match schedules, management of teams and groups, entry of results, automatic calculation of tables and rankings, creation of final rounds and tournament brackets, participant management, role and referee management, as well as export and PDF functions.
The scope of functions available at any given time follows from the current description on Free-Tournament. For paid services, the Premium description shown to the user before purchase is decisive.
Free-Tournament provides the technical platform and is not itself the organiser or host of the tournaments organised via the platform.
The respective organiser is responsible for actually running the tournament and for complying with the sporting, regulatory, association-related and other requirements applicable to them.
Automatically generated match schedules, tables and rankings are based in particular on the settings and entries of the respective user. Data entered by users is generally not checked by Free-Tournament for factual accuracy.
3. Registration and user account
A user account is required for certain functions. The information required for registration must be provided completely and correctly. Registration is possible in particular with an email address and password or via a supported external sign-in service such as Google. Users are obliged to protect their access data against unauthorised access and to inform Free-Tournament if they suspect misuse of their account.
The email address stored in the user account must be kept current and reachable. Where other users are added to a tournament as editors, referees or in a comparable role, the person responsible for the tournament is responsible for granting these permissions properly.
4. Free use
A substantial part of Free-Tournament can be used free of charge. The free version may be financed through advertising. Free functions may be changed, extended or discontinued in the course of the platform's further development, provided that no legal or contractual obligations conflict with this. There is no entitlement to the permanently unchanged provision of voluntary free additional functions.
5. Free-Tournament Premium
Free-Tournament Premium is a paid extension of the platform.
Premium may include additional functions such as freedom from advertising, extended export and PDF functions, team and sponsor logos, multiple match days, extended participant management, group draws, additional editors or referee management.
Decisive is the scope of services shown to the user before the Premium subscription is concluded. Premium is a digital service and is generally activated immediately after the contract has been successfully concluded.
6. Conclusion of contract
The presentation of paid services on Free-Tournament does not yet constitute a binding contractual offer. Before a paid order is placed, the user is shown in particular the essential characteristics of the service, the total price, the billing period and, in the case of a subscription, the term and the essential cancellation conditions.
By clicking the button marked accordingly as subject to payment, the user places a binding order.
The contract is concluded once the payment process has been completed successfully and Free-Tournament confirms the conclusion of the contract or activates the purchased service.
7. Prices and payment
The total price shown to the user immediately before the paid order applies.
Payments are processed via Stripe. The payment methods offered during the order process are provided by Stripe. Complete credit card details or comparable sensitive payment data are generally processed directly by Stripe and are not stored by Free-Tournament.
Further information on the processing of personal data in connection with payments can be found in the privacy policy.
8. Premium monthly subscription
With the monthly subscription, the agreed fee is charged monthly in advance. The monthly subscription runs for an indefinite period and can be cancelled at any time. In the event of ordinary cancellation, the subscription generally ends at the end of the current billing period that has already been paid for. After that, no further automatic renewal or debit takes place. Statutory rights to extraordinary termination remain unaffected.
9. Premium annual subscription
The annual subscription covers a Premium period of twelve months. The fee for these twelve months is charged in advance.
If the annual subscription is not cancelled, it is renewed for a further twelve months in each case. The fee for each new period is charged in advance at the beginning of that period.
The user may declare cancellation at any time during the current twelve-month period. In the event of ordinary cancellation, the subscription ends at the end of the current twelve-month period that has already been paid for; no further renewal or debit then takes place.
Statutory rights to extraordinary termination remain unaffected.
10. Failed payments
If a due payment cannot be carried out successfully, further payment attempts may be made in accordance with the payment processing. If the payment for a new billing period ultimately cannot be carried out successfully, Premium is generally provided only until the end of the service period that has already been paid for.
Statutory rights in connection with default of payment remain unaffected.
11. Cancellation
Premium subscriptions can be cancelled at any time using the cancellation function provided in the user account.
Irrespective of this, cancellation may be declared informally in text form at any time, in particular by email to info@free-tournament.com. No sign-in is required for this. So that the cancellation can be assigned, the email address of the user account concerned should be stated.
The cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period that has already been paid for.
The user receives a confirmation of the cancellation in text form.
Cancelling the Premium subscription does not automatically delete the user account.
12. Right of withdrawal
Consumers have a right of withdrawal if the statutory requirements are met. Consumers are informed separately about the requirements, period, exercise and consequences of withdrawal in the withdrawal policy.
Premium is generally provided immediately after the contract has been successfully concluded. If a consumer expressly requests that performance begin during the withdrawal period, the statutory provisions apply in the event of a subsequent withdrawal, in particular those regarding possible compensation for value for services already rendered.
13. Premium vouchers
Free-Tournament may offer vouchers with which Premium can be activated for a specific period. The term offered in each case and the price are shown before purchase.
A Premium voucher does not establish an automatically renewing subscription and does not lead to recurring payments.
After redemption, Premium is activated for the period associated with the voucher and then ends automatically, provided that no other Premium contractual relationship exists.
A voucher can be redeemed only once by the same user account. Where a voucher code is expressly intended for multiple redemptions, the number of possible redemptions follows from the respective description of the code.
As long as a paid Premium subscription period is still running for the user account, the redemption of a voucher may be excluded if the Premium periods would otherwise overlap. In this case, the voucher generally remains valid for later redemption.
Statutory rights of withdrawal and refund remain unaffected.
14. Deletion of the user account
Users can delete their user account at any time.
If a Premium subscription is running at that time, it is terminated immediately upon deletion. Premium access therefore ends immediately; no refund is made of the fee already paid for the unused remainder of the current billing period. No further renewals or debits take place.
The user is informed of this consequence before the deletion is finally confirmed. Anyone who wishes to use the period already paid for in full can instead first cancel only the subscription and delete the user account later.
When the account is deleted, the tournaments, uploaded content and other data no longer required that are linked to the user account are deleted.
Statutory retention obligations and statutory claims of the user remain unaffected.
15. Email Communication
We send emails for different purposes when you use free-tournament.com. These Terms distinguish between necessary communication, optional notifications and the voluntary newsletter. Accepting these Terms and acknowledging the Privacy Policy relate only to the necessary communication described below and, by themselves, neither constitute newsletter consent nor set any particular preference for the optional categories.
Necessary emails are part of providing our service and cannot be switched off. These include in particular the registration and verification email, password-reset emails, notices about your account or security, and invoices and credit notes.
In addition, we send optional notifications for three categories, which you can individually enable or disable at any time under "Account":
- Tournament invitations and roles, for example an editor invitation or a referee assignment
- Team and participant changes, for example a participation request, acceptance, rejection or withdrawal
- Messages and contact requests, for example a new message or a reply to a contact request
The newsletter with product news is independent of the above and entirely voluntary. You can subscribe to it during registration or separately at any time under "Account"; it is disabled by default and is never triggered merely by accepting these Terms or the Privacy Policy. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. Actual delivery of the newsletter is not yet active; your consent is already recorded and remains valid once delivery is switched on.
If you disable one or more optional categories or do not subscribe to the newsletter, the related functions and content within the platform - such as notifications in your inbox, participation status or contact requests - remain fully usable. Only the respective email delivery is skipped.
These rules on email communication apply as of August 12, 2026 (version 2026-08-12-email-communications-v1). The newsletter consent version is 2026-08-12-newsletter-v1.
16. User content
Within Free-Tournament, users can post or publish their own content. This may include, in particular, tournament names, club and team names, logos, images, sponsor information, venues and other tournament information.
The user is responsible for ensuring that they are entitled to use and publish the content they provide and that no third-party rights or legal provisions are infringed as a result. This applies in particular to copyrights, trademark rights, personality rights and data protection rights. For the duration of use, the user grants Free-Tournament the simple rights required to store, process, display and make publicly accessible the content they provide within the scope of the functions offered, and to use it in exports or documents requested by the user.
Where tournament information is published publicly, it can be viewed by third parties without signing in.
17. Rights to Free-Tournament's content
The platform itself and its content and materials - in particular software, source code, texts, graphics, layouts, design elements, logos and signs - are protected by copyright or other intellectual property rights. These rights belong to Free-Tournament or to the respective rights holders.
For the duration of the user relationship, the user receives the simple, non-transferable right to use the platform to the extent provided for by contract.
Beyond the cases permitted by law and the functions offered, content and materials of Free-Tournament may not be reproduced, distributed, made publicly accessible, edited or used for the user's own commercial offerings without express consent.
Match schedules, tables, tournament brackets and other documents that the user generates via the export and PDF functions offered may be used and passed on freely by the user for running and presenting their own tournaments.
18. Prohibited use and moderation
Free-Tournament may be used only for lawful purposes.
The following are prohibited in particular:
- unlawful content,
- content that infringes third-party rights,
- insulting, discriminatory or inhumane content,
- fraudulent or misleading content,
- malware, phishing or spam,
- unauthorised access to other people's accounts or systems,
- manipulation or circumvention of technical protection measures,
- abusive use of payment, Premium or voucher functions,
- intentional disruption of the operation of Free-Tournament.
Free-Tournament does not generally carry out a general prior check of all user content.
If possible legal infringements or breaches of these terms become known, the content and circumstances concerned may be reviewed. The review is generally carried out by human assessment; in addition, automated technical security, spam or abuse protection mechanisms may be used.
Depending on the nature and severity of a breach, content may in particular be removed or its visibility restricted, individual functions may be limited, or user accounts may be blocked temporarily or permanently.
Measures are taken proportionately, taking into account the circumstances of the individual case.
Where required by law, the user concerned is informed of the decision and its essential reasons.
Users can contact Free-Tournament at info@free-tournament.com if they wish to have such a decision reviewed.
19. Blocking and termination of a user account
In the event of serious or repeated breaches of these terms or of legal provisions, or in the event of concrete security or fraud risks, Free-Tournament may temporarily block a user account or terminate the user relationship for good cause.
Where this is possible and reasonable in the circumstances, the user is given the opportunity to comment or to remedy the situation beforehand.
In the case of serious breaches, fraud, acute security risks or legal obligations, immediate action may be necessary.
If a paid Premium subscription exists, it is terminated in the event of a permanent block of the user account so that no further automatic renewals and debits occur on the basis of that subscription.
Statutory claims remain unaffected.
20. Availability, maintenance, updates and changes
Free-Tournament endeavours to make the platform available as reliably and continuously as possible. However, availability at all times and entirely free of disruption cannot be guaranteed due to the technical nature of online services.
Temporary restrictions or outages may arise in particular from maintenance work, updates, error corrections, security measures, technical faults, faults at hosting, network or other third-party providers, as well as from events beyond our control.
Where possible and reasonable, plannable maintenance work is carried out in such a way that any impact on users is kept as low as possible.
Short-term or insignificant restrictions of availability do not in themselves constitute a defect in the service.
Where required by law, updates including necessary security updates are provided.
Free-Tournament may develop or change the digital service further, in particular for the following valid reasons:
- legal or regulatory requirements,
- security requirements,
- error corrections,
- protection against misuse,
- technical developments,
- changes to browsers, operating systems, interfaces or third-party services used,
- improvements to stability, performance or usability.
Changes to paid digital services are made only within the statutory requirements.
The user's statutory rights in the event of a significant or prolonged failure to provide the service or defective provision, as well as the consumer's statutory rights to information and termination, remain unaffected.
21. Rights in case of defects
The statutory rights in case of defects apply to paid digital services.
22. Liability
Free-Tournament is liable without limitation:
- in cases of intent and gross negligence,
- for damage arising from injury to life, body or health,
- under the Product Liability Act,
- to the extent of expressly assumed guarantees,
- and in other cases of mandatory statutory liability.
In the event of slightly negligent breach of an essential contractual obligation, Free-Tournament is liable for the typical, foreseeable damage.
Essential contractual obligations are obligations whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose observance the user may regularly rely.
Otherwise, liability for slightly negligently caused damage is excluded to the extent permitted by law.
The statutory rights in case of defects remain unaffected.
23. Changes to these terms
A new version of these terms may be used for future contract conclusions.
For existing contracts, the version validly incorporated at the time the contract was concluded generally remains decisive.
Existing contractual conditions are changed only if the user validly agrees to the change or if there is a statutory or other valid contractual basis for the change.
The user is informed of material changes where this is required by law.
24. Applicable law and place of jurisdiction
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies.
For consumers, this choice of law applies only to the extent that it does not deprive them of the protection of mandatory statutory provisions of the state of their habitual residence.
For consumers, the statutory provisions on jurisdiction apply.
If the user is a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law, Cologne is the place of jurisdiction, to the extent permitted by law.
